People are already lining up to get the first iPhones. There has been so much hype since Steve Job’s announcement at MacWorld early this year. So here’s a more detailed review done on iPhone by a Wall Street Journal reporter Walt Mossberg. Seems like the gadget is living to most of its lofty expectations.

So Tiger came up short in 2007 US Open, losing by 1 stroke to Argentina Angel Cabera. I was watching it live at the 18th hole when Tiger need to make a birdle to force a playoff. Geez I could hardly breathe.
Just came across a clip on some of his best shots which is nice to watch … over and over again:

There are reports saying that eBay has pulled out its ads from Google in return for Google’s decision to promote an event at eBay Live conference to put pressure on eBay to include it’s Checkout service (competing directly with eBay’s Paypal) in eBay. eBay is one of Google’s biggest customer and to do something like this sends a clear signal.
As a result of this, Google has announced that they will cancel the event. Wonder if eBay will resume its Adwords spending soon but looks like that there will continue to be some conflict between them as Google continues to push for Checkout acceptance.

Well … just there was so much hype going around for LeBron James for his first visit to the NBA finals.
The first game he basically disappeared. Going back home seemed better for him in Game 3 but his teammates were no where to be found when help needed.
So as I predicted before, as much as I don’t want the Spurs to win, they are going to win this for the 3rd time in 5 years. Question remains is whether they will sweep it.
I am still backing my previous prediction of Sprus in 5.

HTC announced that they will launch a smartphone based on Windows Mobile 6 which could be a iPhone killer. It is named HTC Touch.
Well since iPhone is not available in other countries for a long while, it may offer opportunities for other manufacturers to fill in the void as demand for smartphones in other countries will be increasing.
I for one may be going get a Touch before iPhone arrives here in Hong Kong. The only drawback? It is not a 3G phone.
Detail specs here for those interested.

Everyone saying that he is the next Jordan (but did we say the same thing on Vince Carter and Kobe Bryant?). As the Nike ad goes, he is really the first LeBron James.
After his amazing display in game 5 of the Detroit-Cleveland series where he scored the team’s last 25 points, he definitely has made his mark in history.
Now the question is whether he could get his NBA ring in his first trip to the finals, following the footsteps of basketball greats such as Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, Abdul Jabbar and of course the legend Michael Jordan.
It’s going to be tough as the Spurs is a great team (although boring in my view) with plenty of NBA finals experience. The team is also very balanced with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Gonobili to share the scoring burden. It will be pretty much a one man show for LBJ as his supporting cast is … well … just so-so.
Personally … I hope that the Cavs will win this but likely I’d say Spurs in 5.

Read this blog saying that Apple started to sell the first Apple II computer 30 years ago (June 1977). I’m sure everyone has heard about the Apple II computer which monopolized the PC market back then. Or to be more exact defined the PC market until IBM decided to introduce personal computers in 1981.
What I did not know is that Apple has a different logo when selling its Apple I computer. See logo on the right. As the blog suggested, it may be more appropriate for a rock album.

Steve Jobs realized that the company needs something different and hence employed its PR firm Regis McKenna to design a new oneand that design is now one of the world’s most recognized trademarks.
I still remember my first Apple II which of course was a clone from the famous Shamshuipo Golden Arcade in Hong Kong. It came with an orange monitor instead of the common green and I remember that I used to load games with cassette tapes (For those who born in the 80s and wondering what I am talking about, I meant cassette tapes that were common to record songs prior to MD and MP3 players). Then I got myself a 5.25″ disk drive tha could hold up to some 512 KB of data. Back then it cost almost $100 for a box of 10!
I could not remember what I used the computer for other than playing Load Runner, Olympics decathon and Castle Wolfenstien (my favourite!).
How times have changed …

After the long wait, it has been officially announced that iPhone will be available on 29 June 2007 in the US (with AT&T only). New TV Ads are also out but I find them a bit disappointing … really basic and straight forward … not like the humorous Apple Ads we used to see. May be there is no ‘wow’ factor as Steve Jobs has already demonstrated all the cool features of the phone back in MacWorld. For those who are interested, here are the links:

APPL has been on a very strong upward trend in anticipation of the release of the iPhone:

It broke the $100 mark on 2 May and never looked back, closing at 120.50 on 5 June.
